3. Invest in Good Quality Windows

Up to around 50% of your heat lost can be through your windows, and/or air leakage around windows, so investing in good quality, well installed, windows is a must.  They let natural light in, ventilate for fresh air and are a big investment so they must stand the test of time in terms of their function and design… Choosing wisely is very important!

I went with Marvin’s windows as they

  • Are thermal sealed to give you outstanding R value and therefore energy savings in your home
  • Offer great design flexibility.  Only some companies will make to order.  If you want full design creativity nothing is off limits with Marvin!  They offer extra large sizes, lots of interior and exterior finish options
  • Are made without shortcuts.  Marvin’s low-maintenance, clad-wood products feature an extruded aluminium exterior, finished in commercial-grade paint, for superior resistance to fading and chalking. Their impact resistant extruded aluminium material is about the thickness of a quarter. Rollform aluminium, used by many other window manufacturers, is almost as thin as a soda can. Other companies will also offer vinyl which will discolour and expand and contract in heat, which isn’t attractive or offering you the best R value
